Modem Speed

Modem Speed: Many people are not aware that the connect speed that your computer flashes at you when you first connect often does not stay at that rate for the duration of your call.  Modems are continuously downshifting and upshifting as line conditions fluctuate much in the same way a truck going up and down hills does.  Also, there is not just one connect speed but two (both transmit and receive).  Here is a  feature that allows analog customers to be able to see their current transmit and receive rate at a precise moment in time as well a analog signal levels and other items.  For more information on modem connect speeds please review http://www.vvm.com/vvmonly/faq/speed.htm.
